Philly Roda de Samba e Choro
In Brazil, samba is a style of music and dance, a community celebration, and a way of life. The “Philly Roda de Samba e Choro” presents samba as it is most often performed in Rio de Janeiro, with people gathered around a table, playing tunes, singing along, drinking, and having fun. With a core group comprised of Fernanda Bravo (voice/pandeiro), Gregg Mervine, (cavaquinho/percussion), Rob Curto (accordion) and Gabriel Furtado (violão), the Philly Roda will perform choro and samba music from 3 to 6 on Sunday, December 8th, at the Black Squirrel Club. The event will be monthly in 2025, and will feature different guest artists each session. There will be drink specials (caipirinhas), food (coxinha, pão de queijo), and excellent music.
